A custom cut non-skid rug pad keeps your rug flat and in place, protects the floor under it and makes the rug last longer. Cut 1.5" in from every edge, it stays hidden: an 8' x 10' rug takes a 7'9" x 9'9" pad.
What a non-skid rug pad does
- Stops slipping. A rug that slides or bunches is a trip hazard, most of all in hallways, entryways and busy rooms.
- Protects the rug. The pad takes the rubbing between rug and floor, so the foundation and pile wear more slowly.
- Protects the floor. The back of a rug can dull a hardwood finish over time. A felt layer keeps the two apart.
- Keeps the rug flat. Corners curl less, and the rug is easier to vacuum.
Why custom cut matters
A pad that is too big shows past the edges and becomes a trip edge of its own. A pad that is too small lets the edges of the rug slip and curl. The right pad is 1.5" smaller than the rug on every side, 3" off the length and 3" off the width, so the edges of the rug lie flat on the floor and the pad never shows. Every size is in the rug pad size guide.
Measure the rug edge to edge, without the fringe. Runners, rounds and odd sizes are cut the same way.
Why we use Durahold Plus
- Patented non-skid design. ¼" felt and natural rubber: the rubber holds the floor and the felt holds the rug, even kilims and flatweaves, the rugs that slide most.
- Made for hard floors. Hardwood, tile, laminate and vinyl plank.
- Floor safe. No PVC and no adhesives, so it won't stick to, stain or yellow a hardwood finish.
- Proven. Made in the USA, and Wirecutter's upgrade pick.
