Privacy policy

How Rugistan® collects, uses and protects your information. This policy covers rugistan.com and our showrooms in Evanston and Chicago. Rugistan® is operated by Kapisa LLC, an Illinois company doing business as Rugistan. We do not sell your personal information for money.

What we collect

  • Order details: name, email, phone, billing and shipping address, items bought and order history. Card numbers are handled by our payment processors; we do not store them.
  • Messages you send us: what you write in our contact form, offers, reviews, chat, text messages and email, with your name, email and phone if you give them.
  • Reviews: if you review a product, we may post your review with your first name or the name you choose. Your email is never shown.
  • Device and browsing information: browser, device, IP address, approximate location, pages and rugs you view, searches, and how you reached our site, collected with cookies, pixels and similar tools.
  • Wishlist: rugs you save with the heart are stored only in your own browser. We do not receive that list.

How we use it

  • To process, ship and support your order, including returns and swatches
  • To answer questions, offers and review submissions
  • To prevent fraud and keep the site secure
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it
  • To show our rugs in ads on other sites, where the law allows and your choices permit
  • To meet tax, accounting and legal obligations

Who we share it with

  • Store and payments: Shopify (our store platform; see Shopify's privacy policy), Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and pay-over-time providers such as Affirm when you choose them
  • Shipping: carriers and shipping software that deliver your order, and rug makers that ship brand rugs to you directly
  • Reviews: if you agree after checkout, Google Customer Reviews receives your email and order details to send you a short survey
  • Analytics and advertising: partners such as Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Microsoft (Bing), TikTok and Pinterest, which receive browsing and purchase information through cookies and pixels
  • Legal: authorities, when the law requires it or to protect our rights and customers

Sharing browsing information with advertising partners may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some US state laws. You can opt out at any time (see below).

Your choices

  • Cookies and ads: use the cookie banner or the "Your privacy choices" link in our footer. Where required by law, we honor Global Privacy Control signals from your browser.
  • Ad settings: you can also limit personalized ads in your Google, Facebook and Microsoft accounts, or through optout.aboutads.info.
  • Google Analytics: opt out with Google's browser add-on.
  • Emails: we do not ask for your email to browse. If you ever get a marketing email from us, every one has an unsubscribe link.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon or other US states, or the European Union and United Kingdom), you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you;
  • get a copy of it;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • opt out of its sale, sharing or targeted advertising;
  • appeal our decision on a request.

Email care@rugistan.com to make a request. You may also use an authorized agent. We will verify your request and will not treat you differently for using these rights. Visitors from the European Union and United Kingdom: we process information to fulfill our contract with you, with your consent, for our legitimate interests, or to meet legal duties. Your information may be processed in the United States and Canada.

How long we keep it

We keep order records as long as needed to serve you and to meet tax and accounting rules, then delete or anonymize them. Messages and offers are kept only as long as they are useful to answer you.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, and our store platform and payment processors protect payment data to industry standards. No method of transmission is completely secure, so please contact us right away if you think your information has been misused.

Children

Our site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date below shows the latest version.
