Vintage hand-knotted Baluch prayer rug in an unusually large 3x6 size; most Baluch prayer rugs are closer to 3x4. The deep red field is filled with diagonal rows of chevrons in navy, ivory and apricot orange, under a stepped ivory prayer arch (mihrab) with a column of linked diamonds down the center: a Baluch design with a strong Turkmen influence in its colors and motifs. Like most handmade older rugs it is not perfectly square, and the low pile in places shows its age honestly. Photographed flat from both ends, since the color changes with the direction you look from.
